I have now been kiting for about 11 years, I started back when I was 11.
My first DVD I stared in was shot when I was coming up through the ranks on the PKRA before I had any championships, it was shot in Cape Town just as I was coming away from board offs and as the new handle pass revolutions was arriving.
Check out this little trailer and go to Progression’s Facebook page, once they have hit 2000 hits you will be able to check it out for free on YouTube.
After a sweet 3 months of riding and chilling in Cape Town it was time to get out of there and get back on the road.
This season was really good, I got to kite and cable loads trying to nail a 900 and also hang out with some good friends. It was nice to be based somewhere and chill in one spot for longer than a few weeks.
My first trip this season was to Norway, last year I came here to Hagastol for the Ragnorok, it was so much fun there was no way I was going to miss it this year.
I have been here for 3 days now, on the first day there was no wind so went to snowboard at the close by resort in Geilo, that was a lot of fun, hitting some rails and learning to flip into the massive inflatable air mattress.
Yesterday was our first session with a kite, it was nice for an 11m although there was not much visibility which made it pretty hard. I managed to do a bit of freestyle, nailed a mobe or two, front blind mobe and a few other things which was cool. Still it was pretty frustrating, popping is really different, I have in my mind that I can nail everything I can do on the water but everything is in the take off and I am still struggling a little with that.
Today is the first day of the event, there is going to be no wind so I am going to go and ride on the 2.0 cable system that they have set up outside the hotel, then maybe some snowboarding at the slopes later.
Check out my Facebook page for some pictures of the trip so far and also the Ragnorok page.
Over the weekend I decided to enter in the Ultimate X event down at the Waterfront here in Cape Town.
It is an event that includes FMX, BMX, Skating and Wakeboarding.
The set up was in a small canal where we were towed by jet skis over a couple obstacles, long flat bar with a big oli on and a kicker.
Obviously this isn’t my main sport but I do really enjoy it, it was a cool atmosphere and fun to hang out with the crew of riders out here.
Hopefully next year will be even bigger and better.
Here is my new movie from Mauritius, a trip I went on last August to shoot the first products in the Hadlow Collection.
Shot and cut by William Milne, Boom Ting.
I’ve been in Cape Town for the last couple of weeks scoring some epic kite sessions and hitting the cable on windless days.
Cape town has been producing some classic days with epic kickers so I’ve just teamed up with William Milne from Boom Ting Productions to film over the next couple of months.
We’ll be working on some projects capturing some of the latest innovations and unseen tricks to be landed on a kite, shooting some new product vids to get you up to speed on the new Hadlow Collection and also will be shooting the first in the series of Ask Azza.
The first video will be covering one single trick, I’ll fill you in with the history of the trick, my opinion of this particular move and my top tips on nailing it.
So fill in the comment box and let me know what trick you would most like to see.
Closing date is 31st January, all comments after the 31st won’t be entered, ONLY comments under this post and on my Facebook Fan Page status will be counted.
