5th SA Nationals
Over the weekend was the national cable competition, Nick Davies, Jonty Green and few others were here from the UK and also the top guys from JoBurg were down, so the level was high.
I decided to enter for the fun of it, to learn a bit about the cable events and hopefully improve my riding.
The level in the finals was amazing to see, I could have quite happily just sat and watch, I managed to get to them though, which was already good enough for me, that meant I was in the final 8.
To put a run together is pretty tough, one mistake and it is game over, your run basically consists of half a lap, you can probably get 7 tricks in if your on it (10 or more if your Nick Davies), I managed to get 6 in most of mine but if you crash your first one your run is over, you do get 2 runs in a heat though so you have another chance and if you do well straight off then you can go even harder in the next.
I think my best run was gapping the A-frame to backside, into a switch front roll, back-blind, double-S, Blind Judge, switch back-revert and then going for a 3 off the kicker. In my second runs I gap 3′d the A-frame, went for an S-mobe (switch NIS in Kiting) and got a Blind 313 (Blind Judge 3).
I ended up 5th so I was pretty happy with that, I learnt a lot about the comp and my riding and had loads of fun.
