Here’s a few clips from yesterday.

I arrived in Cancun a couple of days ago to come and check out the spot and conditions before the first PKRA.

Yesterday was pretty windy but it was off-shore and pretty much un-kiteable, instead we had a great game of beach football against some local guys and just checked out the area and settled in.
The place is pretty nice, here in Playa del Carmen its pretty touristic, a lot of Americans seem to come here for vacation, but it’s pretty cool and seems a fun place to hang out.

In the next few days we are going to travel around a bit and check out some other spots to get some kiting in.
We’ll see how it goes.

It’s been a pretty good week for Man Utd, the 4-0 kaining against Arsenal and a 1-1 draw away to Lyon, which I’m sure they’ll take for now, was all topped off this evening with a 5-1 win away to Newcastle which takes them just 3 points away from the top spot in the Premier League.
It great to see that they are still in the running for the league title, Champions League and FA cup.
There next fixtures against Fulham away on the 1st then there home to Lyon to hopefully stay in the Champions League.
Come on United !

Last night was the evening of the Laureus awards here in St. Petersburg, Russia. The ceremony went pretty well with 3 locations splitting up the night.

First off we went to this new modern theatre in the center which held the actual awards, a lot of people turned up which was cool, I got to see Lewis Hamilton, Mika Hakkinen, Roger Federer, Tony Hawk and also met up with Robby Naish who is an academy member at Laureus.

Unfortunately I didn’t win the action sports category but being up against such great athletes I didn’t really expect it, I was just happy to be invited and be involved with the whole thing. Also there was a great edit played on the screen when the nominees were shown so I was well happy with that.

After that we went to this pretty fancy dinner and on to an after party. All in all is was good fun, it’s not often I’m dressed up in a suit and in Russia so it was a cool experience.

It’s a pretty mad country, it’s freezing right now, rivers are froze over and there’s snow every where, the city is amazing with high buildings lining the roads and loads of historic squares with old buildings and statues, a real nice place to visit.

Hopefully I will get the chance to come back and kitesurf sometime.

For the last couple of weeks it’s pretty much blown everyday, it hasn’t really stopped, I have been kiting a lot with Ruben, Neal and Lewis mostly on 9s and 7s. We have traveled around a bit, Big Bay has been at its best lately and we have triped up to Langabaan a few times.

About a week ago we took a trip 3 hours up the coast to a flat water spot, we got it pretty epic and also stayed in the insane house overlooking the spot. It is a big sand bar where the wind blows off-shore it was perfect for freestyle and Major Blind-side landings.

Other than that the other day I was checking my emails and received one from the Laureus award for the second year running, http://www.laureus.com/nominees it’s amazing to be nominated again, last year it was a crazy experience. This year it is in Russia which will be fun, I’ve never been there before so that should be well interesting.
