DR and MegaLoops

Sunday, June 24th, 2007

For a couple of days the wind and weather was weird, I rode my 13 both days and it wasn’t very sunny like usual. I still made the most of it though and had a couple of good sessions, it was good to get a bit of practise on the bigger kites after using my 9 for most of the time out here.
Yesterday was epic, in the evening I went to La Boca, a small river mouth 5-10 minutes from Cabarete, it has dead flat water and pretty good wind. It’s really good for photos and video so a group of us went up there for a photo shoot.
The other riders that came were Yuri, Alvaro and Kevin, I took my 11 and hit the water, it was the perfect size and it was so good to be back on flat water after the harsh chop of Bozo Beach.
The day went really well, I pretty much did everything I can do, I also learnt a couple of new things, one was a Nuclear Whirlybird - Blind, where you grab Nuclear, then wrap the bar over your head spinning one handed in a sort of double S-Bend, then landing blind, it was caught on camera so I will let you know when it’s online.
Also I learnt a new grab on a KGB, it’s hard to visualize and explain, its a sort of nose grab but instead of reaching around the front you reach around your back, that is also on camera, so again, I’ll let you know when its online so you can check it out.
Anyways I don’t have new footage or pictures from out here yet so I though I would show this small movie of a Mega Loop session I had during the sandstorm I experienced in Egypt.
Thanks to the one and only Miss Wilson for capturing the moment.

Kaining Cabarete

Wednesday, June 20th, 2007

It’s been epic out here! I have had 4 sessions so far with 3 on a 9m and one on an 11m.
After a early start from the UK and a long flight I landed in POP and took a cab to my apartment on Bozo Beach Cabarete, I practically went straight out and had a sail before it got too late, it was so nice to be back in board shorts again, it is actually so hot that I was sweating as I was riding.
I’ve managed to pull some decent moves since I have been here and finally have the Blind Judge 5 air pass down (Backside 313 - blind but with a aerial pass before landing).
Also so far I have been nailing Front mobe 5’s, Back mobe 7’s and came close to the Slim 7. I have also been trying to do everything switch, I feel that my kiting is really improving lately.
The wind has been predictable every day, I’m feeling pretty confident with my riding at the moment so lets hope it stays for a another few days and then through out the competition.
Will try to update the site with some pictures or video soon.
Stay Tuned!!!

BKSA Hunstanton

Monday, June 18th, 2007

This weekend I took a trip up to the 3rd Round of the British along with Lewis and Neal, we also met Lance Nunn up there who completed the diamond at the event.
The forecast looked like there might be some lights winds and didn’t look too promising but it was always going to be fun.
The weekend had crazy weather with everything between hot sunshine and mega thunderstorms.
On the Friday there was no wind until the evening, the tide was high at the main event site in Hunstanton so it was moved around the corner to a place that could handle it.
I went out on my 11 and was totally lit but I had a good session and managed to nail some decent moves.
On the Saturday there was a bit of wind and they managed to finish the Pro’s, the wind was really up and down along with sunshine and thunderstorms of immense rain.
On the Sunday everyone chilled out waiting for prize giving, there was no wind so we played some guitar hero, listened to some tunes, did the awards and headed back down to the south coast.
The next day I was up early and off to the airport to head to Cabarete, where I am now, it has perfect winds at the moment so I will let you know how the sessions turn out.

Large in UK

Tuesday, June 12th, 2007

After Italy we were picked up from Heathrow by Hilder Bells to once again complete the power triangle of Team Bosch.
We headed straight down to the south coast and had a few good days enjoying England’s summer.
Over the weekend I went back home to see my family as I hadn’t seen them for ages.
On Monday I met up with Bellsy again and we went and had it well hard up at the cable at Thorpe Park, destroying it on the corners and obstacles and showing that kiters can kain it up there to!
At first I left my fins off and went to hit the kickers and sliders, on my first few runs I got a 3 over both of them. Later I learnt the cut so I could hit them at full speed and managed to get a huge Grab 3 and went for a NoseGrab - Backside 3.
After some horrific crashes I decided to put my fins on and do it at the corner. It was epic I learnt how to get the ultimate cut to maximise pop on my kite board, not having bindings make a massive difference.
Neal was having it to another level getting huge Grabbed Frontside 5’s and Olay 5’s over the kicker and popping huge Back - Blinds off the corner with his bindings.

The Boschmosis

Saturday, June 2nd, 2007

To finally clarify what a Boschmosis is, here are a couple of clips that will explain everything.

Lewis Crathern came up with this move a few days before the PKRA in Austria, 29th April 2007, it was instantly named the Boschmosis as soon as the name arose.
It was attempted in heats by Lewis but never completed, it was only until after the event when I landed my first one.
It was first completed in competition in England during the second round of the BKSA, Lewis nailed it in his 2nd heat.
Our mission then took us on to the perfect flat waters of Egypt where I landed the first Wrapped Boschmosis ever to be done.
The standard then escaladed to another level until on the 25th May 2007 it was done to ultimate risk, not wearing a leash, as seen on Video.
5 days later The Boschmosis and Wrapped Boschmosis was landed in PKRA competition where I pulled them out in my second round and finals.
