1st Italy

Wednesday, May 30th, 2007

Just a quick one, haven’t got much time, but just wanted to let you know I won the single elim here in Italy.
The day started off bad with a 7:30 skippers meeting but after a few heats I got into the swing of things and had it.
I came up against Lewis in my 1st heat, again, that’s 3 out of 3, such bad luck that we’re starting to think it’s a fix.
Anyways I was stoked with the day, mainly cause I landed 6 new moves in this event, NOB (Nuclear Olay - Blind) with airpass, Boschmosis, Wrapped Boschmosis, 1 handed low Mobe, Flat water 3 and a KiteLoop BackLoop Handle pass with a Roast Beef grab, so that was epic.
Anyways I came up with Ruben in the final, that was well good, it was well good to see him back up in the finals, the wind was light but we both pulled through it.
It was a well good day and I’m well happy right now,
so gona go celebrate a bit,

Egypt - Holland

Monday, May 28th, 2007

The last week of my trip to Egypt turned out to be great, the last couple of days had light and no wind but up until then it was good.
The day after the Mega Session brought 11 meter weather, I used that kite for the whole day and pulled some well good moves, the wind stayed the same all day and I really got to go for some new stuff, including a NOB (Nuclear Olay - Blind).
The next day there was no wind until late, as the sun started to set a small breeze started to blow, Lewis went to get his 15 but looking up-wind it looked like a sand storm was going to come in. I waited for 15 minutes then the wind just blasted through. I rigged my 7 and Lewis went for his 9, It ended up being a Mega Loop session, it was well good, every jump was as high as possible and then just throwing the kite around. I have a bit of footage of it so hopefully you’ll get to see it soon.
The following day would be the last day of wind, it was light but just good for a 13, Lewis was out for the day after a harsh kite loop he slammed the day before, so he filmed my session.
The trip had turned out good and I had learnt a lot, we managed to get some of it on video so that should be cool. The main thing was a perfect shot of the Bocshmosis, leash-less, this is the ultimate risk, it involves letting go of the bar at one point so it’s easy to loose the kite. It’s on video now so I will try to get it out there ASAP.

So now I’m in Holland, I came here to check out the KBO event and just to meet up and have some fun with Ruben and some friends.
Ruben came and picked us up from the airport and took us straight down to the beach, because of our flights from Egypt we missed most of the first day but I got to meet up with everyone later in the evening.
Today was no wind so no one got to kite, the atmosphere was good down the beach and I’ve had a good time since I arrived, we’ve also had some good football session so our skill are really improving.
Anyways tomorrow I am off to Italy along with Lewis and Ruben for the next stop PKRA, hopefully I can do well again,
I’ll let you know how I get on.

Ohh and cheers to Alex (oneclearshot) for the pictures :)

Egypt

Tuesday, May 22nd, 2007

My first impression of Lagoon beach near Moon Beach in Egypt was amazing, although there was no wind the spot couldn’t have been better and the conditions looked set to be epic.
We got to stay in a nice hotel right on the beach with 2 lagoons just down wind in view, the set up is actually ridiculous.
For the first 2 days there was no wind, it was horrific, perfect flat water was waiting but what made it worst was the fact there is nothing to do here.
Luckily we had brought Guitar Hero, PSP and bought a new mini football at the airport so we had enough to keep us entertained.
On the 3rd day we woke up to 13m weather, that was a relief, another day would have been unbearable. The wind was good and the lagoons were incredible, the wind picked up a bit more in the afternoon until I was lit on my 13, so I came off the water a happy man.
The next day was even better, we woke up to blasting 9m weather and went straight out and had it, the morning session was good but later in the evening once the tides had topped up the lagoons we went out and had a Super Mega Bosch session, it was amazing, the water was at it’s flattest and I was at Power Bosch level on my 9. It started with a front mobe 5 airpass but with a ridiculous amount of distance travelled, it also involved a Bocshmosis, Wrapped Bocshmosis and even a Kiteloop – Boschmosis all of which will be revealed soon. But, the highlight of my session was a Mega Power backside 315 airpass, which is basically a Blind Judge with and extra 360 and involves 2 aerial handle passes. (Also could be explained as a Backside 313 – blind but with and aerial pass before you land)
So that was the session, it was epic, my knees are hurting but it’s a good feeling, when that happens you know you must have been taking some harsh landing.
After the session the there was a sand storm, the wind picked up a even more and at one point the sun looked like it was going to disappear, Lewis though it would be a good idea to go out on a 11m, but I gave it a miss. He said he almost died on a Kiteloop but had some mega hangtime and stupidly powered s-bends-blind, but still I was happy to wait for the today.
Right now the wind looks good again, I think I will go out on my 11.
I’ll let you know how it goes.
Cheers.

ENGLAND !!

Monday, May 14th, 2007

England has been amazing, this time it has been so much fun to be home, coming back from Austria I headed down to Worthing with Lewis, his van wasn’t quite finished so we used the 2 free days to kit out the rest of the back. Now it looks sick, a proper pro job.
Anyways Wednesday night we headed up to Barrow on Furness in Cumbria, North-West England, along with Neal Hilder and Lance Nunn, they both also have transporters so we had a well good convoy all the way, it was loads of fun and we managed to pass the drive really quick.
We arrive Thursday morning to nuking 7m weather, after the drive we were pretty knackered so we all just passed out for a bit, later in the evening we had a decent session in this shallow, super flat water spot, the wind also dropped a bit, I took my 9 which had the perfect power, surprisingly it wasn’t too cold, and the wind was good, everyone came out on the water and we had good fun jumping over each other and trying to land the most stupidly powered tricks.
The next day was no wind, we pasted the time on Guitar Hero, which is now almost completed, and footy skillz, which have gone to a new level.
Saturday morning we woke up to blasting wind, the competition finally got underway, I didn’t entered the event, I just went up there to check out the seen, meet some people and have a laugh.
Lewis and Lance headed into the water but by midday the wind had dropped, I had a 30 minute session just before it totally went, I was under-powered but still had a bit of fun, I landed a ‘Front mobe - Blind’ and a ‘Slim - Blind’ and also got a Boschmosis so I was pretty happy with that.
That night there was an epic party, everyone was fully involved, the next day was no wind so the event finished early, the prize giving was held then everyone headed back home.
Right now I am back in Worthing, Neal also lives here and Lance got some time off work so the next few days are sure to be fun.
On Thursday I leave to Moon Beach in Egypt with a few guys from the South Coast, Lewis and Alex are also involved so I’m looking forward to getting out there and having some new moves.

Also here’s a video of me made by Jeremy for the PKRA.
