On Route to Austria

Friday, April 27th, 2007

The day after the event in Venezuela I came straight back home to England.
After a couple of days of chilling and celebrating with my family I was picked up by Lewis Crathern, a mate from the south coast, in his newly pimped out van.
We set off about mid night to the Euro Tunnel which is about 45 minutes from my place, that was trippy, it was like driving on to some space station or something, I had never travelled by train to France before so that was cool.
Also on the trip was Alex from OneClearShot, who was coming to shoot some video and pic’s and also doing some podcasts of the trip.
We set of to France and found a place to sleep near the beach, the next morning was blowing NE so it was perfect Cross shore wind, we kited a place called Wissant on 11m kites, It was a good session and nice to be getting back into the European conditions, I got to nail some pretty powered stuff and almost nailed the sickest ‘switch mobe’ of my life, if I had grabbed the bar it would have actually been better than my normal ones, unfortunately the pop of the kicker was too immense and it ended in a major face slap to the water.
Later that day we headed further along the coast where we stopped in another place just before the Belgium boarder, Bray Dunes. Lewis had another session but I was pretty tired and gave it a miss, he was on his 11 and the conditions were looking good, I saw him Bosching down some decent moves, which was good to see.
We stayed there that night and then hit the road this morning, right now I am in Luxembourg so will carry on to Austria today.
Will let you know how it is when I’m there,
Cheers, Aaron.

PKRA Venezuela 1st and Best Trick

Saturday, April 21st, 2007

Yeaaaahhhhhhh,
Stoked just came back from the prize ceremony, I won, I came up against Alvaro Onieva in the finals, I was on a 13 and the wind was light but able to pull a lot of moves, Front Mobe - Blind my usual powered trick and a bunch of switch moves, that was enough to take first.
So now I’m so happy and stoked to be 1st at the 1st event.
OK, so time to celebrate,
Ltrsssssss

After a brake and a few beers the wind came back up, I didn’t think it would happen but as we headed down the beach to pack our gear they announced they would run a best trick.
I was in the first heat with Ruben and few other guys, I just went out for fun and to have a bit of a session.
I had a really good heat, I started with a Front mobe 5 (airpass) so I had the rest of the heat to try some harder stuff, I was going for the Front mobe 7 a few times and also KGB - Blind, which I didn’t stick. I did manage a Slim - Wrapped though, that left me advancing to the final.
In the finals the wind was a bit lighter so the harder tricks were hard to perform, I don’t think anyone had an epic heat, I won with a Front mobe - Blind, I think. I didn’t think I had won but at the prize ceremony they announced that I did. That just made it the event perfect.
Right gota pack for my flight.
Thanks, Ltr,
Aaron.

PKRA Venezuela Day 3 - 1st

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

Just got back from the beach now, today was windy for an 11m, it was held in El Yaque but it turned out to be really good. I had a sick day and now so stoked, my first trick of the competition was a Front Mobe 5 (another Handle pass) that was sick. I had super good heat all the way through and got to the final, which I won as well.
So right now I’m so happy, Ruben also came 3rd this is one stoked apartment.
This is only the single elimination, the double will be held tomorrow, I can’t wait to finish the event.
Right, I will up date this post with more info ltr, just thought I would let you know.

PKRA Venezuela Day 2

Thursday, April 19th, 2007

Waking in the morning I though we were going to have wind, the skippers meeting was a bit later and turning up on the beach it did look promising.
There were a few guys out on 15’s but again it wasn’t close to conditions to run the event.
After chilling and waiting, around 2 o’clock or so it seemed like the wind was about to kick in, most people pumped up kites and got ready but 30 minutes later it dropped back down.
That was that, it didn’t come back again and some cloud cover came over. Leter on we head back home to El Yaque where we would wake up to the competition out side our window, nice.
El Yaque usually produces more wind so I think we will get out on the water.
Will let you know how it goes,
Ltr.

PKRA Venezuela Day 1

Wednesday, April 18th, 2007

The first day of the first PKRA round in Venezuela was held in Coche Island off El Yaque, Margarita.
There has been wind everyday since I‘ve been here but today it decided to stop, I couldn’t believe it, we took a boat over early morning only to see the water with no wind. I actually thought it would pick up but as it came to around 3:00 it was clear it wasn’t going to happen. Around 4 it did come up a bit, a few guys went out on 15’s but it was nothing special and not enough to run the event by far.
By then it was time for our boat home so we just hit the jetty and came back to chill and get ready for tomorrow.
I’ve heard a few different things about the wind tomorrow, some say it is meant to be the same and some say it’s going to pick up.
I’m looking forward to it, can’t wait to compete.
Lets see how it goes, Speak to you then.

El Yaque and Videos

Monday, April 16th, 2007

Yesterday I had a pretty fun day out in front of the Hotel, El Yaque Club. I though it was going to be worst but it actually tuned out to be good fun.
I had a pretty good session, I managed to get a pretty good ‘Front Mobe 5′ which is this but with an extra 180 airpass on the way down.
Also I passed the bar on a ‘Backside 315′, which is this, but again with another 180 airpass on the way down. So, I was pretty stoked on that! :)
Also Ruben was having a bit of a rest so he was good enough to film the session. Out on El Yaque beach the wind is pretty gusty and the water is choppy, which it makes it quite hard to land your tricks, but it is great fro the spectators and I think it is going to be good to see once the event moves over here.
So today is registration for the event and tomorrow is the first day, that will be held in Coche, I’m looking forward to that, can’t wait for the event to start!
Also check out the interview video below, I think it’s pretty interesting, please let me know what you think.
Right, I’ll let you know how it goes tomorrow.
